The same week Clinton departed this life, I was talking to the Lord about my husband’s physical condition. The Lord said to me, "Sarah, Clinton’s not unconscious. He’s not in a coma, and he’s not sedated. In the Bible, what is usually taking place when someone is not connected or not completely aware of things going on in the world and yet they are not dead?"
I said, "Well, the Apostle John said of himself, ‘I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day’ (Rev. 1:10). And the Apostle Paul said, ‘Whether it was in the body or out of the body, I do not know’ (2 Cor. 12:2). So, both were in the Spirit."
The Lord said, "That’s right. Clinton and I are having a conversation, and I wish you all would leave us alone until we finish it." I knew the Lord was referring to me and to the doctors.
After I received the news that Clinton was gone, I said to the Lord, "Well, obviously the conversation was finished."
He replied, "Yes, and Clinton took My offer."
I said, "But, Lord, You promised me back in 1977 that I would never sit as a widow." I mean, it was so strange when I acknowledged to myself that I am a widow. I said to the Lord, "You told me twenty-seven years ago that I would never sit as a widow and neither would I know the loss of children. That word has worked for me all this time. What happened here?"
He said, "My Word will always work. Every promise of Mine will always work for everyone as long as they’re in obedience. When they step into disobedience, they invite chaos into their lives."
I said, "Lord, please explain that to me because I have a congregation that I must explain this to, without making any excuses, or trying to pretend or make up anything." I said, "They need answers, and I need to be the one to give them the answers."
So He said, "I commanded Clinton four years ago to learn Spanish. He knew I had spoken to him and he shared with you and the congregation not only what I said to him but also why I required it of him. But he didn’t do it. I gave him several opportunities to repent and get it straight. He would repent and he would do it a little bit, but he never took the time to follow through. I allowed him to see that while he was in the hospital all the things that he thought he had to do at the church and with the choir were still going on just the same even though he was not able to do them.
"If he had listened to Me," the Lord said, "he would have experienced for himself My all-sufficient grace. When much is given, much is required. When I ask something of My children, commanding them to do something, it is because I have given them the wherewithal to do it. My grace really is sufficient as long as you’re in obedience. But when you get into disobedience, I am not a respecter of persons. I don’t show partiality to anyone."
Choosing to obey is the reason I do my walking. Do you think I felt like doing thirty minutes of walking the day I received the news about Clinton? I guarantee you that I didn’t, but I did it anyway. And I’m here to tell you, just as I have told my congregation, that whatever God has commanded you to do, whatever it is, do not -- I repeat -- do NOT allow anything or anyone to interfere with you doing it. We’re in a time frame with the Lord now where we no longer have time to play around and ignore the commands of the Lord. He doesn’t make suggestions. He doesn’t make requests. He gives commands and He expects them to be obeyed. We’ve entered a time with the Lord where He’s just not going to tolerate disobedience from those of us whom He has blessed enormously.
Brother Hagin prophesied two years ago at Winter Bible Seminar that in 2005 judgment was going to begin at the house of God. This is a classic example. God loved my husband too much to allow condemnation to come on him. Clinton is not condemned. He is asleep in Jesus.
