ICOR

ICOR - Inner-City Outreach

ICOR (Inner City Outreach) was started back in the fall of 2002.  Its main purpose was, and still is, to live out the famous passage from Matthew 25 – “Inasmuch as it you do it for the least…..”  ICOR has been a successful, grass roots movement because we simply listen to the Holy Spirit and do what comes naturally, which is to help those in need.  With the homeless population continuing to rise, the need is greater than ever, and even though we make a teeny, tiny dent in the problem, we are doing what we think is right.

That includes providing, on a minimum of once a month during the colder weather (Nov-March):  clothing (new and used), backpacks, bibles, other Christian writings, hygiene kits, hot chocolate, occasional lunches, and mostly, a shoulder to lean on and an ear to listen to.

Most of these people are not that different from you and I, having fallen on hard times and are either temporarily in a difficult situation or just unable to pick themselves up, whether through mental challenges, various addictions, etc.  But the bottom line is that they are people, and needed to be treated with respect, not ignored.

The people at Wasatch, as well as others we have come in contact with over the years, have been the backbone of this program, and the reason for its continuation.  Whether through prayer, cash or clothing donations, volunteer time, etc., the response has been overwhelming and warms your heart.
