Wasatch Hills has had a connection with the Hatian orphanage Maison des Enfants de Dieu (House of the Children of God) since 2006 when Wasatch members Greg and Tawnya Consantino found the first of two children they have since adopted. They subsequently became involved both on their board (Greg) and as Medical Director (Tawnya).
When the Haitian earthquake struck in January 2010 Tawnya went to Haiti to both assist the orphanage in recovering from the earthquake and to help evacuate children to the U.S. who had adoptive parents waiting. You can read their story here, as well as a story published by the Deseret News - here.
An Adventist filmmaker went to Haiti, with the help of Greg and Tawnya, and produced the documentary Adopting Haiti which can be seen in its entirety here.
Then in the fall of 2010,Pastor Bernie's wife Christina and daughter Madison visited the orphanage for a week.
What's Next?
This fall (2011) the Wasatch Hills board voted to partner with the orphanage and the charitable organization Hungry For Life to coordinate a mission trip to assist the orphanage in their pursuit to rebuild and expand - recovering from the earthquake.
