About Us
Dr. James Boyd
Lead Pastor
JamesHis Life from birth to rebirth:
Dr. James Boyd was born in Dallas, Texas but lived in Phoenix, Arizona from age two until 22. As a six year old at a revival at First Southern Baptist Church, Phoenix, God effectively drew and enabled James to stop relying on his own good works to put him right with God, and to rely fully on Christ who both took the punishment that James justly deserved for his sin and gave James His perfect righteouenss as a gift.

His Calling to and Preparation for Ministry:
As a young teen, God called James to the Gospel ministry during a Centrifuge camp in New Mexico. As preparation, James received a B.A. in Christian Studies from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix and an M.Div. and Ph.D. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth.

How God has used Him:
During college and seminary, James served in a variety of capacities including: a mission church leader, minister of youth and music, apartment minister, and sports minister. After seminary, James served as an associate pastor for 8 years and now is lead pastor here at Memorial Baptist.

His Vision:
James' heart is to lead Memorial:
1) to meet with and hear God through the Spirit-applied Word
2) to bow before God as Savior and King
3) to be transformed radically by God into Christ's image
4) to be sent out by God, leading others to meet and follow God in Christ.
