Ambassadors for Children is a service of the Council of Churches of the Ozarks and dedicated to supporting abused and neglected children and youth in our community. Many children come into foster care having been abused or neglected with little to no clothing or personal belongings, and carrying significant emotional burdens. Each of our programs is designed to meet practical needs while also instilling a sense of value and dignity which brings hope to children and families. Ambassadors for Children’s programs are provided absolutely free to families and are completely dependent on private grants and donations.

Our Vision:

To be a part of a safe and healthy community where children are valued.

Our Mission:

To provide quality services and supports to abused and neglected children in our community.

Adopt-A-Caseworker empowers our community to care for vulnerable children by matching groups and individuals with caseworkers to provide for the needs of families including children in foster care, children at risk for coming into foster care, and biological families working to be reunited.

The Kids' Closet
provides brand new clothing, pajamas, undergarments, socks, winter
coats and a shoe gift cards to children and youth in foster care.

The Tutoring Program provides one-on-one educational instruction for children and youth by volunteer tutors who have completed background checks and training. Once matched, tutors provide tutoring and mentoring once a week in a public setting.

Project Self-Esteem provides funding for self-esteem enhancing items and activities such as sports fees, beds, music lessons, eye glasses, and graduation related expenses.

Pack-A-Bag provides new backpacks, duffle bags and tote bags filled with books, activities, crayons, a blanket, stuffed animals and hygiene items for children and youth in foster care.

The Prom Closet founded by Arianna Stephens, provides a boutique style shopping experience for teen girls in foster care from any County in Missouri from a selection of gently used formal wear including dresses, shoes, and accessories and discounted tuxedo rentals for teen boys in foster care.

The Christmas Program coordinates the donation and delivery of thousands of Christmas gifts for abused and neglected children and youth. Donors may "adopt" a youth or sibling group and provide specific items on their wish list which volunteers prepare for delivery at our annual Gift Wrapping Party.
