How and Why:

Just A Closer Walk will help men to understand God’s Perspective of them-selves as they grow up and become real men. Manhood is rooted in childhood, and many of the thoughts men have today come from the early experiences as a child.  This Ministry is to help men to understand the brokenness that they feel now from the encounters as a child that manifested itself into adulthood.  Just A Closer Walk with God will teach men the value of being who they are in Christ, teach them to stand firm on God’s Word, have Integrity, and not run from the Commitments that they make.

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation.”   2 Corinthians 5:17-18

Webster defines Reconciliation as the ability to settle or resolve.  God settled the debt of sin with Jesus Christ.  Just A Closer Walk teaches men to have the ability to resolve the past, not regretting it, in order to go forward in life.  When we base our life on where we have been before, we are sure to lose.  We will repeat past mistakes until we learn the lesson.  Jesus did not let his lineage of the past dictate His future.  God is in Total and Complete Control; this is the highlight of A Closer Walk.

Life has dealt some men tough cards.  Yet, with God, we won’t give up.  Just A Closer Walk Ministry is to Trust God for His Strength and Help in surviving the challenges of day-to-day life as Men of Honor and Humbleness make decisions. With the consultation of The Most High Counselor, God will teach us the significance and power of daily Communion with Him.  We are Men of Prayer, We will not be knocked down lower than to our knees!

“For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them. But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.” Proverb 1:32-33

Transitional Purpose:

Proverbs 29:18 states, “Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.”

This Ministry is for men that want to abstain from alcohol and drug usage.  This Ministry House is a transitional place of residence for men coming off the street that want treatment for their addictive problem.  In the course of being in the home, the men will be taught simple awareness skills in order for them to become employable. They will be taught Spiritual principles to handle situations in life.  The Ministry House is to help them back into society. The objective is not to keep them, yet to prepare them and send them out to live life on life’s terms.

Psalm 37:3-5 states, “Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.  Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.  Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

Parents, spouses, kids, jobs, homes, cars, school, and bills are some of the things that broken men do not know how to handle in everyday life.  At one point or another, they didn’t grow up, didn’t want to grow up, or just gave up.  Low self-esteem, abuse, not moving primary relationships from parents to spouse, and fear keeps these men from attaining their potential.  They are stuck on a holding pattern that will not let them loose.  This Ministry is to give them back self-esteem, conquer the effects of abuse, learn how to treat their wives the way God intended for them to be treated, and teach them to attain the wisdom and vision that they desperately want so much in their life. They will be taught to take responsibility and be accountable for their own choices in life.

A Closer Walk Men’s Ministry Home is striving for men to be the best that they can be.  God wants us to do our best, not be perfect, because we will never be.  God wants us to show His fruit and give to the hurting, the broken hearted, and the oppressed.

Love, Joy, and Peace are all inward looks to the heart, Patience, Kindness, and Goodness are all outward looks from the heart to others, and Gentleness, Faithfulness, and Self-Control are all upward looks from our heart to God.  Once we attain the fruit, God does a good work in all of us.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering (patience), gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness (gentleness), temperance (self-control): against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” Galatians 5:22-25
