Satan looks for opportunities, constantly, to dismantle us,

discolour our outlook

steal our joy

undermine our resolve

take our peace

hijack our focus.

As Joyce Meyer says, he sets us up to be upset.

That’s true.

The thing is life contains things at times which are understandably upsetting. Over recent weeks, I have experienced his attempts a number of times. None of us are immune from experiencing upsetting things - situations which can range from mild to extreme. So, taking Joyce’s statement a little further, it is helpful to be aware that he also sets us up to keep us upset. Because, you see, he absolutely does not want us to move on from the pain of the upset.

In every attempt he is trying to draw us away from God,

keep us from going to God, and

keep us from giving to God our hurts, pain, anger, confusion, frustration exhaustion…

Why?

He wants to keep us 

under

little

bitter

broken

hurting

hurtful

isolated.

Keeping us there works to his benefit -

for his purposes and his plans to destroy our life and to impact lives of others'.

The enemy knows that when we go to God, and keep going to God, with our pain, rejection, sorrow, jealousies and disappointment, He will lance our pain, hold our ocean of tears and take our waves of anger; and through His ministering presence, we will find comfort, healing, freedom, resolve, growth.

God will give us strength, courage and encouragement.

We will find hope and purpose, direction and wisdom.

All of which will thwart the enemy’s designs for us.

Remember, satan is a controller and a manipulator and he will do all he can to keep us in misery.

Some issues and the ways in which he attempts to bring us down will require us to keep going to God multiple times in a day…in an hour even!

But keeping going to Him. 

Being in God’s place with our tears, fears and anger is the only way to go through and grow through the upsetting things of life, and to get better and be better - all in spite of whatever the enemy throws at us to bring us down.

Stay in God’s place. Bring it all to God;

and say to Satan: Nope. Not today!
